mouseover_effect.jpg
You will need two almost identical graphics, or buttons, to make a Mouseover Effect. A Normal Button and a Highlighted Button. The normal button will be what the viewer sees before moving the mouse over the button. The highlighted version will be what the viewer sees when the mouse moves over the button. In case you don't understand, look at the buttons on the home page of this tutorial. The row of colored buttons on the left side of the page are mouseovers created in CreaText.

You will notice the buttons for this tutorial are almost identical. The exception is that one button has a shadow and the other button doesn't have a shadow. When the mouse moves over the button, it gives the effect of the button being pushed in.

Use the dialog box, shown above, to enter a Normal graphic and a Highlight graphic. Once this information is entered, click Add and then enter the next set of buttons, or graphics. Continue this process until all of the sets of graphics are shown in the upper window. Then, click Insert and the java script for the Mouseovers will be entered into your HTML document.

To be sure you have the name of the graphic correct, click Select Normal - Select Highlight and find the graphics on your hard drive. That way, you can be assured the name of the graphic will be correct. If the name of the graphic is not exact, the script won't work.

If you want the mouseovers to be linked to other web pages or pop-up windows, check the Create Links box in the lower left of the mouseover dialog box. The necessary HTML for the link will be entered along with the mouseover script. Then, you can add the URL of the linked page in the appropriate place.

Click on Slide Showred_d.jpgin the pop out menu and the Slide Show dialog box will appear, as shown below.

As you select each one, click the Add Button to add it into the slide show. If you want to change an image's order, highlight the image in the box and click the Change Button.

You can enter the time of delay before the next image appears in the slide show by typing in the preferred milliseconds in the Delay Fields.

Click the Insert Button when all images have been added and the java script for the slide show will be inserted into your HTML document.
