"E. Grizzard, General Merchandise Store" This old store stood on U. S. highway 78 in Fruithurst, Alabama for many years. I went there many times as a boy.
Housing a dry goods store, grocery store, post office, barber shop and automobile repair shop, it was basically the
whole town of Fruithurst in its heyday. I always said I would do a watercolor painting of it before it was gone forever.
In 1977, I began the painting. By then, the old store was a very run down antique flea market.
The old store and it's memories are gone now. I'm glad I did the painting to preserve this bit of history and Americana.
